Beijing Normal University, 3+2 Baccalaureate-Masters program

The 3+2 Baccalaureate - Masters program agreement between Beijing Normal University (BNU), China, and SUNY Buffalo State enables students who have completed three years of study at BNU to enroll at Buffalo State for two additional years, during which they complete their BNU bachelor’s degree and the Buffalo State master’s degree.

Admissions Requirements

This program is open only to students currently enrolled at Beijing Normal University. The application process to the BNU/Buffalo State 3+2 programs requires the following:

  1. Application via email to the Graduate School at Buffalo State by May 1 of the year of anticipated starting date.
  2. Submission of an official bank statement, on bank letterhead, equaling $39,405 USD for the academic year of 2016/2017. (This amount is subject to change.)
  3. Submission of official test score results from TOEFL, IELTS, or CET-6.
  4. Minimum requirement for Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is 79 for the internet based test.
  5. Minimum requirement for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a band score of 6.0
  6. Minimum requirement for the College English Test CET-6 is a score of 450.
  7. A minimum grade point average of 3.0 on 5.0 scale for courses completed at BNU.
  8. Personal interview by designated representatives from both BNU and Buffalo State. Buffalo State may waive this requirement at their discretion.
  9. Initial admission is to post baccalaureate status. In addition to the general requirements listed above, individual Buffalo State graduate programs participating in the program have particular undergraduate course prerequisites. These may be found by following the links above for the individual programs.

How to Apply

  1. Download, print, complete and return the BNU-BS 3+2 application.
  2. Complete the required International Student Supplemental form FSA-4 (Foreign Student Financial Statement).
  3. Submit a written statement of your goals for graduate school and future profession.
  4. Submit an official copy of your BNU transcript along with a certified English translation.
  5. Submit your official TOEFL, IELTS, or CET-6 score report. To request your official TOEFL score to be sent to Buffalo State, please use our code 2533 when completing TOEFL registration materials.
  6. Submit a copy of your passport bio page.

Items 1-6 above must be submitted in electronic form, via email to gradoffc@buffalostate.edu.

All application materials should be received by May 1 for fall admission. After all items are received, you will receive an email with an ID number and instructions for submitting the required non-refundable application fee of $65 via direct bank transfer.
