What It's Like to Be a Student at Buffalo State

The Class Visit Program is an invitation-only event for high school seniors and families that have been accepted to Buffalo State. Parents are invited to participate as well.

This program includes a campus tour; participation with current students in an actual class taught by a member of the Buffalo State faculty; and a Q&A panel discussion for parents. Courses are limited and reservations are required.

Group visit in the quad

Group Visits

Group Visits are designed for large groups of campus visitors (8+ students) to become more familiar with our institution and its academic programming. A Group Visit consists of a general campus tour and an informational presentation from the Admissions Office. (Please note, residence halls are not included.)

Our 125-acre campus is very accessible, walkable, and is located in Buffalo's vibrant museum district.

Buffalo State is surrounded by trendy cafés, museums, restaurants, shops, parks, and Victorian-styled housing. Accessible by car or bus, the campus is approximately 20 minutes from the Buffalo Niagara International Airport.

As SUNY’s only urban four-year college, Buffalo State has a mission that grows directly from our location. We serve the city because we are of the city.

Take Exit 51 (NY 33 West) to NY 198 West. Exit NY 198 at Elmwood Avenue South. The college is immediately on the right.

From the West (via the NYS Thruway/Interstate 90)
Take Exit 53 (Interstate 190) to NY 198 East; exit at Elmwood Avenue.

From the North/Niagara Falls
Take Interstate 190 South (over the Grand Island Bridge) to NY 198 East; exit at Elmwood Avenue.

From the Peace Bridge
Take Interstate 190 North to NY 198 East; exit at Elmwood Avenue.

From the Greater Buffalo International Airport
Exit the airport onto Rt. 33 West for approximately 5.5 miles. Continue to Rt. 198 West (Scajaquada Expressway). Stay on expressway approximately 2.2 miles. Exit at Elmwood Avenue South. Continue on Elmwood Avenue. approximately .2 miles. Enter Buffalo State to the right on Rockwell Road.

NFTA Metro Bus
Citywide and suburban service; reduced schedules on weekends. Buffalo State is a stop along the 20-Elmwood, 3-Grant, and 32-Amherst routes.

NFTA Metro Rail
One route along Main Street from the University at Buffalo South Campus through downtown Buffalo. Free parking at two stations:
South Campus (3435 Main Street, about 4 miles) and LaSalle (Main Street and Hertel Avenue, about 3 miles).

Boarding fare: $2. Exact fare (coins or bills) or pass.
